In 1983 Howard Isaacs realized that London, Ontario would be well suited in establishing an Inuit and First Nations Gallery. It was with this in mind that he created the Innuit Gallery which brought some of the finest work in sculpture, print, and jewellery from the Arctic and across North America.
In 1993 Janet Evans and Ann Jenkins joined in partnership with Howard and together they have carried on the tradition of excellence in selecting exceptional Inuit and North American Aboriginal art for the gallery.
Over the past 21 years we have held exciting shows of the many artists that the gallery exhibits. "Northern Frights" was an exhibition of unique sculpture that was held on Halloween with art work from the Arctic communities of Gjoa Haven and Spence Bay. It was a great success. Individual artists have been invited to work on their sculptures in the gallery allowing the public to view the exacting skill that goes into creating a work of art. We also hold the record for the earliest time that a person came to line up for the annual Cape Dorset Graphics show, which was 17 hours before the doors of the gallery opened for the 1988 show..
